Sing: A Visual Poem
Spoken Word, Sculpture, Photography
2014

I awoke one morning with my left eye feeling like it was cracking. I had been dreaming about my dying father's life.

SING

I awoke with a crack across my eye
Because I saw you as a young man
With limbs like pine
But the tree dormant, eternal winter

Origin saw you as a young man
Another sleep, source tree
But the tree dormant, eternal winter
Then the lotus, rising straight and high

Another sleep, source tree
Sung black only white, white only black
Then the lotus, rising straight and high
An error in the water

Lotus black only white, white only black
More like a stone that went to sleep
An error in the water
A single seed drops and cries a ripple

Soon to be a stone in eternal sleep
With limbs like pine, no longer
A single seed drops and cries a ripple
I awoke with a crack across my eye
