Leaning to Pond/er
2006
An installation of a water lily garden constructed of paper. Each lily pad is made from freezing colorant into an ice cube, placing the cube onto the center of a Chinese paper and allowing it to melt and draw. Large leaves above water resemble brain maps. Water text floats underneath. Algae is in a section of the pond. On the flower petals will be current statistics about what is in our water (pond, rivers, oceans) written in copperplate calligraphy.
MEDIUM AND SIZE: Installation/sculpture. Melted ice drawings with gold leaf up to 18” x 24”.
